Princess Anne residents Richard Cantrell III, 35, and Michael Jarman, 61, were pronounced dead inside their Somerset Country home in the 32000 block of West Post Office Road in Princess Anne at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, according to officials.

Upon arrival at the home, members of the Maryland State Police Princess Anne Barrack said that they found both men, each with an apparent gunshot wound.

Both Cantrell and Jarman were pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical service personnel and have been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for autopsies.

The initial investigation determined that both men were inside their home when the incident occurred. Investigators later learned that there was a verbal altercation between the two prior to the shooting.

The Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division crime scene technicians responded and processed the scene for evidence, officials said.

Members of the Somerset County State’s Attorney’s Office were notified and an official from that office responded to the scene, they added. Assistance was also provided by the Princess Anne Police Department.

The investigation into the apparent murder-suicide is ongoing.
